What is a blue warrant?

A blue warrant is an arrest warrant issued by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles for violating the conditions of parole. It is typically issued for serious offenses or repeated violations of parole terms. When a blue warrant is issued, the individual on parole is considered a fugitive and can be arrested by law enforcement officers at any time. Once arrested, the individual will be held without bond until a hearing can be conducted to determine if their parole should be revoked and they should be returned to prison. Blue warrants are considered a serious matter and can result in additional prison time for the individual if their parole is revoked.
